Went to bugis today to watch Lanke Cup. Really love the competitive atmosphere there. Wonder if i have another chance to join Lanke Cup in future?
I have been playing weiqi for quite some years and i notice a sad thing.
I seem to forget something call "快乐围棋".
I can remember clearly that when i first started weiqi, i used to find friends and gather in clubhouse to play weiqi or approach people to play games. Is really a happy thing to do cause we were all enjoying the game and is a form of gathering. But now this does not happen anymore. I notice this happen to alot of my peers too. Especially when we reach a certain Dan level or when we are playing competitively.
Every time when we play now, is either in competition or training and this kind of environment force us to think of winning all the time and forget the main reason why we started this game... FUN. Most of my peers dont play leisurely too, is it because they dont want to "lose face" when losing the game or they try to keep "secret weapon" and use it in tournament?
There is a period where i dont like to play weiqi not because i am bored of it but i hate the feeling of losing. Whenever i lose, i get upset easily and i have to find stuff to do like eating (haha) to distract myself from thinking of the losing match. Is a terrible feeling and i know if i cant overcome this, my myongji path will be a suicide path.
So where should i start?
Thanks yurika who help me bought some fan from nihon kiin. She even got discount from her friend!!
Was upset with m.s. Sometimes i dont know if this happen to the youngest member of the family. When everyone in the family is "taking care" of her and she has no one to "take care of", will it make her abit self centered? S incident really bother me alot and the last time i feel so upset is during wmsg. I was so angry that i almost could not control my emotions. If she cant make it on that day, why cant she suggest another date which she is available so that i can make arrangement? She just say cant go and thats it. If she can make time for her 한국 class, why cant she make time for S even for the last time? Everytime when i feel like going yishun i will think of this incident and is killing my passion for S. I dunno when i can go back S. I will be really disappointed if she miss that out. If you are reading this, i am not typing this to make you angry, i just need a place to vent out my anger.
Going to ORD in 2 months time. Started to hand over rooms to my junior and i know i am going to miss that place. All the memories. So what am i going to do from oct to feb? Thought of working part time in a dog farm where my friend used to work in. Pay isnt much but i like dogs alot and short working hours. Or should i concentrate on improving weiqi before myongji? One thing for sure, i am not going to slack at home and kill my brain.

Just came back from watching the YOG rehearsal which lasted for around 3hours. The performance were not bad but the starting was quite boring. Will be going to the actual one next week with my sis, wonder what will be in the goodie bag. There is this part where all the participating countries will introduced one by one and when it comes to Bangladesh, all the secondary school kids were cheering and shouting like mad.... i think foreigners attending will thought that we are very close to that country.
Yesterday was one crazy day in army. Started work at 8am and have to work all the way till 5am the next day.
Was talking to a friend in army. Few years back he was feeling unwell in his stomach and when he visited the doctor, he was diagnose with cancer stage 4 which means he is going to die soon. He went for chemotherapy and it was quite effective for him. Few months later all the cancerous cell in his body were wiped out. The doctor told him that even if the cancerous cell were wiped out, he can only live for the next 3 to 5 years. This is his 3rd year. When i heard his story i was really surprise because he look so cheerful everyday. I asked myself if i know how much time i have left, can i be as cheerful like him?

This morning was in yishun from 11am to 2pm. I cant believe X is late again, and this time 50 mins late!!!! OMG... When X arrive i feel like telling X, can u dont be late, time is precious to me. Considering a switch, but who next?
Went to watch inception with sis. Not a bad show. I just realized that the show "The Prestige" (a movie between 2 magician competing with each other using orthodox method that no ordinary magician will use) is by the same director as Inception. And surprise that the the box office for The Prestige isnt good because is really really a nice show, in fact i personally think is better then Inception because of the huge twist at the end. If u have not watch "The Prestige", please go and watch.
Have been watching the series "criminal minds". Quite sad that one of the main character decides to leave the show.

zhang xiang is quite creative, he mention in his blog.. SNOC= Seriously Naughty Organisation Committee. Muhahahahahah... I dont use the word lol much but this is really LOL!!!!!!!!! hope that snoc dont see this.
We tried all we can and there is nothing much we cam do now. Lets pray hard for external help now. Mr Kwa put in alot of time and effort into the application and appeal, hope that a miracle happens.
National youth team is really a big headache for me now. So many problems here and there. Of course there are times i feel like giving up, asking myself why did i go through so much troubles and planning to set this team up. But when i see the players play so seriously, having fun reviewing (well, they look like they are having fun, haha),i think all the time sacrifice for this team is worth it.
Have been looking for someone (thats u wen jun) to take over me to manage NYT because i will be away next year but is really hard. First i cannot expect him/her to have the same drive and enthusiasm as me to operate this team. Our ideas of NYT may be very different. Wenjun has been telling me that nyt seems so slack, everyone is not discipline enough, most people skip review bla bla bla and alot more which i totally agree. He even told me if 'M' is in charge, he plan to ask everyone to sign contract etc to enforce everyone discipline. But i think that they feel this way because they have not manage the team yet so dont understand what is going on. I can also enforce strict rules and kick people out when they fail to meet the rules but how are all these going to benefit NYT, SWA and the players? Are these really going to work or frighten everyone away? The players can just quit, they have nothing to lose. I personally feel that NYT is a training ground for players who wants to improve more, a place for players who want to mingle around and make more friends, a place for players who dont have a reason to play weiqi( since they have completed all the swa weekend class or other reasons). At least for now, it dont have to be that strict.
Is sad to see that no one is signing up for nyt selection especially this month. I have to personally approach people and ask them to join. What does this show? Does sg player hate playing weiqi that much or we dont have players anymore?
I cant help but to say that i dont understand hwachong players (if u r ex hwa chong student, pls dont kill me).Is like majority of the people there are being forced to play weiqi. I am not saying this because only 2 hwa chong players (yuxiang)(jie hui) join nyt despite they have tons of good players but besides competition, do you see them in swa event? Do you see them help out in yc event? Ok, maybe is during exam period or studies come first. Being the top weiqi school in singapore, is sad to see that beside playing competition for their sch, they dont contribute to other areas in swa.
Read "Y" blog and know that she is not quite happy about what i "did" to mimi(thx karen for the name) in mindsports festival. Did some reflection and yar, i admit i am wrong, should not have arrange so many players especially him. I can find lots of excuses to defend myself for example, there are lots of crowd so i need to maintain the crowd by making the game go on and on,alot of ppl wan to see the game between them, bla bla and the excuses goes on but i am really in wrong especially when i forgot that the pro standing there is just a 21 year old lady.

Last week was my sis DJ competition in jurong point. I was really glad that some of my aunt and uncle actually made posters, buy whistle and came all the way down to jurong point to support my sis. Is the first time we actually have this kind of gathering and it really feels good.
One of my aunt told me that this is her first time doing this kind of "chase star" thingy in her entire life, haha and in some point she was so embarrassed by all the shouting and blowing of whistle that she has to cover her face with the poster i made, muhhahahha.
So my sis has to compete in 3 different rounds of test with 9 other competitors. There will only be 1 winner and he will get $1000, a one year contract as DJ in 933 and become ambassador for ALICAFE (a coffee brand).
So in the first round, they were given a news article beforehand and they were asked to summaries them and present the news in a interesting way on stage. One by one they made they presentation and finally when is my sis turn, (she is number 10, the last contestant)i could feel my relatives all tense up. My sis din really perform well in the first round so we were quite worried for her.
In the second round, each contestant were given 2 words and they have to make a story out of it. My sis got 汗颜 and 蚀. I am like what the hell is 汗颜 and 蚀??? My sis got the 2 hardest word among the 10 contestant. In the end she managed to cook up a story and the judges were quite impress, haha.
In the third round, the contestant were pair up in pairs and they have to interview either "stars" acted out by current 933 DJ or actually singer (there were 2 of them that day). Actually the 10 contestants were given 5 names 1 week before the competition so that they have time to prepare what they want to interview with their partner. The 5 names were, xiao s (a famous taiwan host), bye 2 (a twin group from singapore), gong zi yi (singaprean singer), xie jia fa (933 dj) and yao yao (a actress famous in taiwan for big b***). So when my sis and her partner went to draw lots on stage, they got jay chou, a name which was not in the 5 names given earlier. Haha, i could see how panic my sis and her partner was and what make things worst was that they have to present first, meaning no time to prepare at all. But my sis did quite a good job interviewing him even though "jay chou" answer "yes", "hmm", "yar" everytime when a question is asked.
Then came down to the results part. The contestant were line up on stage and were asked to leave one by one in random order if they are not in top 3. I could see my relatives screaming and shouting at her name when it comes down to the top 3. My sis came in second. The winner is a guy from ntu and his chinese is really good so he deserves to win the title.
Yesterday my sis received a call from mediacorp askng her to be part time dj in 933 but first she has to pass the probation period. All the best to her!!

Was checking myongji website for the enrollment date and found that it was changed to december instead of november, notice of admission will be end of jan. So i guess i will most probably be going there in feb.
I also happen to see an interview of mod (the thai player)regarding his plan and how he was doing in myongji. After watching it on youtube i know life will be really harsh. Of course before watching i already know it wont be easy. Questions like what can i do after i graduate from there, leaving my comfort zone and staying in some cold and unknown language country, will i survive there, bla bla thousand and 1 question... Yar it will be scary living all alone there but is exciting to me and not everyone have this chance of doing so.
In mindsports festival i did up a last min simul game for ms cho cause she seems bored so we got alvin, zhou xiang, xing wei, rong yao, yimo, junzhe and one ntu guy to play against her. I was really surprised by the crowd being attracted to this simul game because alot of ppl were very impress by a lady playing against so many guys. A lot of them even took out their camera to take ms cho picture. Some who have no clue what is going on even seat down and admire ms cho, hahah, i am serious. But i think she is going to hate me cause she stand 3 straight hours, haha. My conclusion for this is that by having more female players, we might get more ppl to start playing weiqi. So how do we attract female players?
Practice today was terrible. Things have gone terribly wrong after the monthly S. Have to think through more.

Tmr is the start of mind spots festival. Hope everything goes on smoothly.
When i saw north korea getting 7-0 in world cup, i start to get worry for the players when they go back home. Past players who did not perform well were sent to labor camp to work for 15 years. Scary huh....
Training today is good, there is improvement. Scored 491 last sunday and had 512 today:) pass the 500 mark!!

Finally got my opening and closing ceremony ticket for the youth olympics. The seats given is not the best but well pray hard that the view is good.
Anyway if you are looking at my blog now, please go to http://entertainment.xin.msn.com/zh/radio/yes933/ at once, scroll all the way down, right side and vote for 陈宁(18岁). Please vote as many times as possible!!!! (you can vote again when you delete your history or cookies, shhhhh....)
Last fri was the ORD bbq celebration for some of my unit friend. For the first time, boss says appreciation speech for the 4 of them. I am not sure if the rest were listening to him (most ppl want to go home so badly) but i did listen. Stuff he said was really meaningful to me, especially when said he "what have you achieve so far and what are you going to achieve in 3 or 5 or 10 years times" even though he is praising the ord personnel, i feel that he is hinting us something. I look around and i see some of my frends wasting their lives away, staring in front of computer games, gambling, obsesses with gf bla bla bla... yar, you may say this is just my perspective, they might not think they are wasting their lives. But these things they do, which one can actually help or contribute to ppl around them or the society? Are they working towards their goal or dream in lives? There are so many people out there who wants to do so many stuff but are restricted by maybe their health or physical conditions etc.. and they dont have the chance to do it. Humans do take things for granted. Ok, enough of my BIG theory, haha.
Office now is really quiet...... kind of miss frends whom i have work with for 1 and a half years. 4 more months to ORD. should i feel excited about it? hmm.... it only means that i am going to lost more friends again.

Open my refrigerator and i saw a box of MAGNUM GOLD (the ice cream advertisement which 2 secret agent trying to steal gold bar but it turn out to be ice cream..yar trying to tell us how NICE the ice cream taste)....a, then i told my sis.."haiz...mummy watch too much tv". After eating the ice cream i conclude that my mum got con by that 2 joker secret agent... I think the ice cream is too expensive and is not nice.
Went to jurong point with my sis today because there is an autograph session there by li shen jie and she wants to go and see how the MC speaks and stuff. She needs to prepare for the up coming DJ competition. So all the while she is taking down notes (very hardworking of her) while the MC speaks and the singer will sing a few song here and there.
So during the first song, he started singing and halfway through he got some poster from the side. Yar... thats wat all singer loves to do...throw poster at their fan. So you can imagine all his fans started screaming and waving like mad at him. So me and my sis were at one corner looking over the crowd and i notice this foreign Bangladesh worker whom have no idea what is going on, started waving frantically to the stage because everyone in front of him are doing so. Muhahahhahah...is damm hilarious!! must see his expression.
Appeal is submitted. Hope the outcome will be good!

OMG!!! My sis got into top 10 of the 933 DJ competition!!!!
Went to the sports award 2010 dinner yesterday with the teachers and yc gang. Is good to attend this kind of event once a while cause it gives everyone a chance to dress nicely and a good time to talk cock.
But for me i think i din enjoy as much as the rest cause i have to seat with a bunch of unknown people and more importantly thinking of ways how to do the appeal. Everytime the VIP or MC said the word "asian games" i could hear president sigh. Yar, sad dinner...
Anyway i was really happy when Singapore table tennis won against China in the world table tennis competition. Good job!!
Then again... there will be people who will say "they are from china","fake singaporean" so on... everytime when i hear people say this i feel really angry. Deep inside i would really wanna ask these people, if your kid say they wanna stop school and concentrate on a sport, will you allow? And how many singaporean can go through the pain and hardship they have gone through. More importantly they have to give up their citizenship, go to a foreign country and they might have to play against their own country mate in competitions and that is really not an easy thing to do.
I was really surprised and happy that my sis got into top 20 of 933 DJ competition.
Today will be the result of top 10, hope she will do good!!!

Lou Yuxiang won the first round against South Africa.
Lost the second round to Hungary.

Yuxiang vs player from Hungary. Quite impressed by his unique seating position. Yuxiang must be distracted by that, haha.
My friend was looking at this pic and he suddenly shout" wah!!! how come the guy on the right dun have legs?"

watched ip man 2 and is really a good show. In fact i think is better than part 1. I dun mind watching again, is a must watch show.
Another show which is the hot topic recently, iron man 2 is a disappointment for me. I feel that there is just too much talking and is not as nice compared to ip man 2.
Will be going to watch the opening and closing ceremony of YOG (youth olympics games) with my sis. Heard that you have to go through balloting to get these ticket if you buy as a public member because they wan to make sure is fair for everyone. So grab the chance and bought the ticket through some legal means, haha. Hope is going to worth the money cause the opening is quite ex. $80 for one and this price is only the third best seat.
Something happen at home and i am really upset by it. why do things have to happen this way? i din even have a chance to say a proper goodbye. she has been with us for so many years and i really cant bear to see her leave so sudden. if i know wat would happen i would have stop her or advice her. And y cant mum forgive and forget everthing, put those stuff aside n take it as if it never happen. i guess things r too serious. i dunno how long i am gong to be affected by this incident. take care and all the best aunt ruth, keep in touch.

Went for a 20km, around 3 hours trekking with zhixiong, monkey sis and mikyung on sunday. Is really interesting to see the different attire people wear for trekking especially when i see some wear office attire(yes, shirt and long pants) and traditional costume. Is just not logical to me, haha.
Also went to night safari and it turn out to be better than i expect. The animal show is interesting not because of the animal performance but rather the MC was quite comical. Is really challenging to train those wild animals for these show because you wont know what kind of stun they will do for every show. But is rather expensive, S$32 per person. The food there is really ex... around 4 times more than market price, haha.
Went to national library in bugis last week and i saw an interesting caption. When asked if this politician is afraid of death, he reply something like this "No, i am not afraid of death but rather how i am going to die. what are the things that i am going to leave behind, how did i contribute to this society and what am i going to be remembered for?"
传种接代(correct word?, haha) and earning enough money to support own family is most people's aim but i hope to do more than just these. So how am i going to contribute to this society?
Approached someone to sponsor mindsports festival and he agreed. Took alot of courage to ask him because we are not really closed and i seldom see him. Hope to get good news from him.

Saw a weiqi movie in Golden Village few days back.
Is not "THE GO MASTER" lar, thats outdated, haha.
Is call "Ju-On white ghost black ghost"
isnt that a good advertisement for weiqi? Maybe we can get someone to cosplay the ghost during mindsports festival and "she" will help us give out brochure. Good idea right?
Last week in bugis, i saw a dad teaching his son weiqi. They are beginner so they want to have a feel on a actual board. But the dad is holding the stone in a wrong way. Normally we hold the stone with our middle finger on top of our index finger. But he hold the stone with the index finger on top of middle finger.
I mean how do you even play comfortably in that posture? I saw a few players play that way too, deepest impression was jing wei (very long din see him le, studying i think). At first i was so amazed of how wrongly and ugly his posture was when putting a seed on the board, i was even worrying that he might fractured his fingers or have a huge cramp in his fingers but no, it din happen.
After a few months i could not resist but ask him how on earth can he hold a stone that way and doesnt he feel cramp after a game? And he reply he is used to it, haha.

went sentosa today with wenjun, minyi and mikyung. last time i went was last year with the koreans from ings cup. We went to beach, took the luge n skyride and they went to underwater world. I din join them for the underwater cause i went before and it cost really ex, around 22 bucks.
So while they were queuing up for the underwater world ticket, i saw this snake stall. U know the kind where u pay 6bucks and you get to take pictures with some huge snake with your OWN camera. The more i look at the owner of the stall the more i feel that he is abusing the snakes. Imagine him handing the snakes recklessly and he treat them like toys, putting his bag on the snake n so on. I am not a huge fan of snakes but is just not the way to treat them.
also went to the resort world and universal studio (entrance area). is really nice there but stuff are so ex. n ticket for the universal studio are all sold out!! isit really that fun? most people just take picture with the huge revolving globe outside the entrance.
went to bugis to take some brochure for active aging carnival. then wanted to go bishan. So after i alight from city hall, i should just cross over and take the red line to bishan. BUT one small tiny part of my brain tell me to go down one level n take the green line. So i happily went down and board the green line train n suddenly i realise i am in the train BACK TO BUGIS... well done.. i must be the dumbest person on planet earth in that few minute.
Went to marina for bowling this morning with army frends as a form of celebration for bryan ord. Think the last time i bowl was 1 year ago. Wanted to learn bowling but could not find the time.
Went to Manhattan fish market for lunch and the fish n chips is not bad plus the staff there are really good.
After that went to golden mile with some army frends to book tour to genting. All of us dying to try the texas poker in genting, haha. Really cheap, cost only 88, includes bus, hotel and breakfast.
Went to a cafe in city link to spend my time before meeting exco for dinner. Cant believe i read weiqi book there without feeling sleepy. Normally when i read weiqi book i will feel like sleeping immediately, hmmm..maybe is too quiet i guess.
Went to jang shou restaurant for dinner with exco as a form of welcoming mikyung. Food was really good but i guess i order alittle too much. Was more ex than i thought.
Then we brought her to visit our dear merlion...
Lazy to post pic here, facebok load faster.
ok, we will be bringing her to sentosa tmr, hope is going to be fun.
So many things to settle recently...

Japan trip was fun but really tiring for me cause jerlyn and meng yeow drag me to so many places. Well i have to be grateful to them cause i get to see many parts of tokyo. Weather was terrible, raining and was damm cold.
Experience their rush hour in train during night time. OMG, they can really squeeze in train. We should bring all singaporean to japan to experience once and they will realise that they are not even trying hard to squeeze in singapore mrt. Japan train is ex too, i spend near 200 dollar on train in 6 days.
mikyung came to singapore and we help her with her home stuff and brought her to the clubhouses. Koreans dun use bolster!! she was so amused when she know we use bolster in singapore.
Might be going genting with army frends next next week to play and gamble!! haha...
sis got me the most useless thing from china, a dumb glove with 4 claws. Seriously what the hell can i do with it? maybe wear it on Halloween... haha.

Send my sis to airport yesterday cause she will be going to china for 2 weeks to do voluntary work there.
And will be my turn this friday to go japan!! YEA!!! This time i will be going tokyo again which i dun really prefer cause the last time i went i find the place too similar to singapore(in terms of too many shopping mall and tall building) plus stuff there are so ex. Wanted to visit like kyoto or other place but my poly frends whom will be going with me never been to toyko be4 so yea.. tagged along, haha. This time i must take some pictures of nihon kiin and buy many many weiqi fan(main goal for this trip)
Sat was national youth competition and bugis was flooded with people from group A and B. And i heard a few guys saying, wah singapore got so many youth ar? haha, yar i am quite surprise by the number of people too. Thats good news:) But admin area still need to improve cause the starting was terrible, not enough chairs and table, ppl name not on the list, whole place is hot cause too many people.
My frends in my unit are going to ORD soon and they are discussing about which uni to go and they all seem so excited. Honestly if there isnt this weiqi degree in korea, i have no idea where i will be studying, most probably helping out at my parents stall? nah.....
When i heard that some of my frends need to work and study part time after they ord i feel that i kind of take alot of things for granted. Sometimes i would ponder on why some stuff are so unfair to me but there are just some other areas where things are compensate back to me just that i din notice it or sometimes i refuse to acknowledge. Will use my japan trip to think through stuff.
My cousin keith got hooked up on hikaru no go!! muhahahahah...her mum was complaining to me saying he keep reading it all day long. haha. went to grandma house to teach him and another cousin to play and the other cousin of mine was really smart. Is just different from the kids and even people of my age i have taught. The seriousness when he think through the game and how he play make me really excited, haha. I am going to psycho his mum to let him join swa class, hope to make him into the second jie hui.
Saw kaiwen in bugis few weeks back and she even went up to swa. I dunno why but I guess things have changed and it can never be like the past. When i visited her facebook few months back i suddenly find her very unfamiliar. Did i really not take a good look at her in the past? Is really upset to lose such a good player and frend. If time can go back i will try even harder to make her stay in weiqi.

Spend the whole day in bishan today doing weiqi stuff.
Had youth connection meeting today and realize that we still have to do alot for our project. Hmmm, i dunno isit because this is a huge scale project and it scares people off or other reasons but not many people seems to really support this project. Or the captains are just not interested because it does not really concern their school. I guess some people in youth connection just do not have that much passion as some of us have so saying so much project stuff might turn them off. I dunno, just feel thar something is not right but just cant find what isit.
Had voting on youth connection shirt. Have to admit i din do a good job the last time round and have to pass it to siong hwai and he did a good job. The design is nice. Just pray hard that it wont be the zip type drifit shirt, haha.
When my non weiqi frends look at swa logo, they all ask me why we so not creative, putting the singapore lion symbol on a weiqi board with 2 tiny stones relaxing in one corner.
Exco meeting was really fast today, think it broke swa record, everyone was so happy. Heard prof gao said this " 哇,今天很早完,以前到十一点多我傻掉了" muhahhahahahhahahha....

Just found out from my mum that my cousin got diabetes.
And he is just primary 3 or 4. My mum was really upset cause he has to take 2 injection everyday and he is still so young.
Yesterady i realise that my rintone has ben scaring my dad for the past few weeks. Cause my sms ringtone is the creepy "i see you......" tone and i usually put in the kitchen for charging at night and ask my dad to help me off the switch before he sleep. So sometimes i get sms at night and my dad was wondering why is there a voice in the kitchen and he was so disturbed by it that he thought our house was haunted. My mum even told my dad not to mention this creepy voice in front of me and my sis so that we wont be afraid living in the house. MUHAHAHAHAHAHA....

Oh, i just realize that the show i watched yesterday is call blind side, not bind side..haha.
My sis gave me 2 free ticket to watch 14 blades today in vivo. Went with huishan and the show is not bad. Wu Zun(the brunei guy in fei lun hai) speaks with funny chinese so i prefer him not to speak, haha. There is this female villain in the movie and her name sounds super lame, call tuo tuo yes 脱脱 direct translation means strip strip. Well, if you going to watch this show i have a little quiz for you, why is she called tuo tuo? haha
After talking with huishan in dinner just now, i realize how fortunate i was and yet i simply took it for granted. I dunno why but i just feel something struck me hard when she told me how much her dad is earning to support her family of 5.

Just came back from watching the movie "Bind Side" with my army friends. If is not for them, i would not have consider watching this show cause the poster looks boring.
But this movie turns out to be a really really good show. Really inspiring. The female actress Sandra Bullock won best actress because of this movie too and she does deserve it.
Saw wenzhi's boyfriend is my unit today. He is a lieutenant brining his troops to my unit for training. When i ask him are you wenzhi's boyfriend he look damm surprise, haha... What really surprise me is that before he left he gave me a breakfast set (curry puff and a drink), haha. Role model for officer, hahaha.
Heard from wenzhi that michelle is getting married soon. Was shocked when i heard that. Went to her blog and saw they they even bought a house already. Maybe i haven seen her for a long time so i suddenly find her somehow unfamiliar. I remembered both of us were in the same specialization course in our poly third year and we always borrow people's homework and copy from them, muhahahah.. Time pass really fast.
I have been playing this application call school of wizardy in facebook and maybe due to copyrights they have to "modify" their character appearance and how the magical items were called. Last night when i access this application i got a shock of my life cause my character who is Hermione look like she went through plastic surgery 30 over times and she got this super thick lips. OMG...i hardly recognize her anymore... poor thing. Nevertheless i will still continue to play this game. I wanna see how long my passion for this lame game can last, muhahhhahahah.

A very tired day today...
Was in bishan the whole day doing up the pair go world cup selection...zzzzz....
After 4 rounds of playing, singapore and malaysia enter the main competition which is going to be held in hangzhou in march.
Had a great talk with yurika last night in msn. Haha, a very interesting topic indeed. Feel kind of bad to make her listen to my problems, really appreciate her advice.
too tired to continue blogging...zz

Went PS for dinner with jon just now. Haha, he look super fierce with his botak head. Was hearing him talking about his tekong experience and it sound totally different from my experience last year. Recourse batch sounds quite interesting.
Went to otaku house and i saw this....
I dun really watch naruto now cause kind of lazy but this figuring is super cute.... Bought 1 even though it coast 7.50 for one... damm ex...
So you cant choose what characterto get cause is all wrapped up in a box and i was hoping to get anything except number 4 and 5.....
number 5 is a villain so not that interested, number 4 is a good guy but....hmmm just not interested.....
and when i open........
SIAN..........................................number 4.......... haha, quite disappointed.... i was wondering if is a hint for me somehow....
Going back to hong kah tmr to meet my scout friend. Quite sad that some of them are not interested in going back, dunno why. Another reason i wanna go back is to visit my teachers and my new school, haha wonder how new has it become.
In my work place i just cant seem to communicate or stand this particular person because he seems so self centered and keep giving excuses. Like when he play games and lose, he will give lame excuses like oh very tired today, not use to controller etc... when unit friend is in trouble, instead of thinking how to help, he will be there saying useless stuff like "see lar, knew this will happen..." and he will go on and on. I am just surprise how some people tolerate him. Something just struck me suddenly toady.. what if my kid behaves like him in future? you know some people behaves different in school and at home, and it will be so sad if my son/daughter's friend talk behind his back about how bad this person is. Hmm.. will i be able to educate a kid that wont behave like thw person i know in work place?

I guess it must be really long since i blog.
Last week was one of a hell week for me. Was feel really weak and i cant believe i actually walk from joo koon to camp in this state. The thing that freak me out is that i din even sweat a bit, haha... it only means i am really sick.
Sleep alot everyday and i dun even feel hungry. Worst thing happen on friday when i could not see things near with my spec on. Apparently i somehow lost the ability to "zoom in" over a night. Went to an optician in jurong point and she has no idea what went cock up in my eyes so she recommend me to jurong medical centerand the eye doctor there cant explain what happen. Magically it recover on the sat. Went to see specialist as refereed by the eye doctor today, waited for almost an hour and when is my turn i was in the room for like 5mins. He said " oh maybe your headache cause it...hmmmm...maybe you should check your spec... come back 6 weeks later" What the helllll....... maybe i should just poke his eyes... ok, thats random.... well i am speechless about his explanation.
Feeling so much better now. Better take care of my health now so that i can chiong more tidbits during chinese new year.
Have been talking to mikyung lately in msn, feel that with her coming into swa, the youth will be going to benefit from her teaching. Really hope that with her in swa we can open up to more english speaking families.
Oh yar....something that is making me having sleepless night. MY HAIR...... I told my hairdresser i want to cut short. The past few occasion i have been saying the same thing and i dunno why it is so different this time... because i wasnt wearing spec when he cut so i have no idea how short he cut my hair...and my nightmare came after i put on my spec. I was stunned. I wanted to ask him if we were on tekong island now. IS FREAKY BLOODY SHORT LIKE BOTAK!!!!! I am never going to see him in my life again... if i do i am going to use his scissors and cut away all his hair!!!!!! ok, relax...... is just hair... its going to grow back:)
My buggest headache now is the pair go selection this sunday. I hope nothing goes wrong.....

Went to this japanese restaurant with jon few weeks back in cine.

The food in this restaurant taste quite good.

I ordered some cream pasta. The cream is nice but i regret ordering chicken cutlet as the side dish cause the chicken taste normal...

Unagi pizza. I used to not eat unagi but when i try it the first time i got really addicted to this fish (zhixiong must be rolling his eyeball if he read this, haha).

Jon ordered some burger meal. Is always amazing to see how he finish such big plate of stuff..
Yesterday went to chalet to celebrate christmas with poly friends. I cant believe i book the chalet like 1pm at home and i rush down to check in immediately. Muhahahha... is damm rush... But is cool. Anyway learnt to play the monopoly card edition and is really fun, better than the board game. I am going to get 1 set and bring to work place.
OK, just reach home from swa christmas party. I must say that everyone is more involved compared to the past christmas party and that is really a good thing. Din want to really get involved in the organizing because i feel really tired in organizing nyt stuff. Speaking of nyt, 1 cycle has already past and i hope that this system can raise the standard of our players.
Din upload 3 countries match in thailand because is really trouble to upload pic in blogger so all the pics are in my facebook.

It has been sometimes since i made handicraft. When i was in pri/sec school the subject i hate most is art n craft because i always draw the ugliest stuff, hahahha... After yesterday chalet i went to artfriend to get the materials and i also dunno where i got this idea from. Is really random. The process of making these stuff is really tiring but when i look at their smile (be it real or fake, haha) i think is worth it. Hope that they will like it though the finishing really sucks...

A very tired day after competing in whampoa cup.
This year there has been some changes in the grouping, besides primary sch group and kyu group, dan group has been divided to high dan(3d and above) and low dan(1d to 2d)group.
As usual there are 7 rounds in all and it really is a test to your stamina.
Out of the 7 match i should say the one against xing wei was the most unforgettable game cause he was leading alot and it was in yose when i catch up. I know i caught up quite alot but i thought i am still going to lose(no time to count territory). He did improve quite alot since the last time i play with him.
The match with yi fei was a joke. A simple mistake in a yose and lost by 3 stones. To be able to play like that at his age is quite good.
Haha, and i lost to hong you once again after TPY cup. I just cant seems to win him and is not that he plays really well but i think the problem lies with me.
If everything goes according to my plan this will be my last year joining whampoa before going korea.
Well, is time to start preparing for 3 countries match.

Just came back from Japan with Minyi as we went there for the 20th International Pair Go Competition. I must say that being able to go to this trip is a dream come true for me cause i really wish to go Japan.
Come to think of it, i have been playing pair go for more than 3 months since july for Singapore internal pair go competition till this competition in Japan. At least to me i feel that we have trained hard enough.
Hmmm.... as for our result, haha... i have to say is kind of terrible but we have not break the record of being the worst sg team.
After this 5 days in Japan, i am kind of touched by their effort to promote pair go. They take pair go seriously believing that this game will let more people enjoy the playing process. And i beieve it will work.
"Double the joy when you win, half the pain when you lose" quote of pair go
Meet minyi in airport on thursday night at terminal 3 to travel to japan on Singapore airline A380 airbus. I was looking forward to travel on this flight cause is the biggest plane SIA has and there are 2 storey in the plane.
How the air bus look from the inside. Is much bigger inside compare to other plane but i dun like the light color.. abit like pink....
Same like other SIA plane there are plenty of movies to choose from. But we were traveling in the middle of the night so i only manage to watch 1 hong kong movie then spend most of my time sleeping.
Breakfast in the plane. Food is not bad but i dun really like the hotdog...
After almost 7 hours of flight, we arrive at Narita Airport and we need to take train ourselves to the hotel. The train map was wah..... super complex and colorful. Minyi was wondering will they will run out of color if they built more lines in future? haha... So instead of digesting the map we approach japanese most of the time and ask for direction. I have to say they are really friendly and helpful. To me japanese are just too friendly, whenever i talk to one i feel so guilty cause they keep nodding and bowing.
We saw the pair go competition poster in one of the train station, cool yea. Oh yar..there are 2 things in the train station that i find interesting. First is the train seat. The seat emmits heat and i understand cause it will be comfortable in winter but the thing is it gets really hot. In Singapore those aunty will pat pat their seat before seating down, worrying that the seat is hot. Imagine we have this in Singapore, think you will see all aunty and uncle seating on the floor instead.. haha. Second thing is the train gap from the train to the platform. OMG, i am really shocked at how huge the gap is compared to sg "pls mind the platform gap". If i am a kid i will be really scared whenever i board train...
And finally we reach the station. When we register in the hotel the organizer was quite surprise at how cheap our train ticket cost compared to other teams. Of course there is a price to pay too, we travel longer than other teams and we have to stay awake in order not to miss our stop. This is the map from the train station to the hotel. I have to admit i am an idiot when it comes to map reading, thanks to minyi we manage to get to the hotel with not much problem.
The pair go booth in the hotel. We can only check in after 3pm so we decide to have lunch first then go shopping and return before 6 to check in...
Our first meal in Japan. We were given coupon and there are a few restaurant to choose from and we pick the Japanese restaurant. What i am not used to is that japanese food is really cold.. almost every side dish(except soup) are cold, even the rice...
If you think this is a duplicate of the top pic, look again. Actually this is the after meal photo.. I am really guilty cause i din eat much and this meal cost around S$30+(is free for us though)...
And we went shopping after lunch... As i got a long shopping list i din manage to shop for my own stuff, most of the time i am looking for frend's items. And the lame thing is we went to place that are available in Singapore like Takashimaya, Isetan and Kino to shop... hahaha.. Kino there is really huge, if i am not wrong is around 5 storey high. And i got myself something which i wanted to buy in sg kino.....
Hikaru no Go illustration book!!! This book is huge...It cost 89 bucks in sg kino and i bought this for S$60+ in japan kino!!! haha...
After shopping for few hours, we check in to our room. I am surprise that i dun have to share room with other player and the room is really fantastic!!
Toilet......
Haha... i am amused by these toilet bowl function.... I wonder if yurika is use to not having these function in sg toilet. I din try these function though and yurika if u r reading this, whats the difference between spray and bidet?
DAY 2
First thing we have is the lottery of opponent.....
Name tags for all the players... There are a total of 32 teams.. i think 11 teams are japanese team from all over japan(they are winner of their state) and the rest are overseas teams..
Yup... and we are lucky number 6!! Well, looking at our final result i am not sure is it lucky or not...haha.. Anyway our first opponent is a japanese team.
This is our first opponent.... We lost............. haha...
Competition venue for the first match...
Our lunch bento after the match.. The packaging is really nice but again everything inside is cold... But the food is not bad, in fact better than the hotel food...haha
We only have to play 1 game for that day. After lunch we have the friendship game in our traditional costume... How this friendship game work is that we will draw lots and pair up with a partner of another country..
Vietnam and Guatemala players...
Turkey player...
Romania player... If you play alot on kgs, u will know that the center guy is cornel 8d(not sure if this is the right spelling). the lady on right is the female player of Czech..
So i got paired up with a japanese lady. She is a beginner so the whole game got really no content. But thats not the main point. The guy opposite me is a japanese pro, 瀬戸大樹 七段 and i really admire him cause he have to play along this whole pointless game and this to other pro player is really waste of time. I am quite lucky to have a pro player in my playing group cause not every playing group will have pro. This pro player can speak chinese too cause he used to go china to play in their weiqi league.
Some of the pro who were there... din manage to take the rest...
Banner for the competition... During this friendship game the MC actually intro every single person and we clap for everyone of them. We clap more than 130 times... haha...
Anyway 1 interesting thing minyi and i did was to take picture with as many pro as possible..
瀬戸大樹 七段, under kansai ki-in. anyway he is the rumored guy who inspired the artist to draw the character Hikaru in Hikaru no Go. Well, is a rumor though...
石田芳夫 九段 aka 24世本因坊秀芳.
高梨聖健 八段. He was in the final of NHK cup last year but lost to Chou U.
Michael Redmond 九段. The only non Asian pro player that is 9p. Most people dunno how to use the focus function in my camera so forgive those blur pic...
周俊勋 九段. Top taiwan player who won LG cup few years back..
謝依旻 四段. Current female meijin (女流名人) and honinbo (女流本因坊)
大竹英雄 九段. Heard alot of funny story about him from yls...
羽根直樹 九段. Current Honinbo.
今村 俊也 九段. One of the top player in Kansai ki-in.
After the friendship game, there was a special game between Hsieh Yi Min(Women's Honinbo) / Hane Naoki(Kisei) vs Akane Ishii(1-dan) / Yamada Kimio(9-dan).
This is the commentary game for japanese.
Michael Redmond 九段 do the commentary game for overseas player. haha..look at the board size difference between the japanese room and overseas room.
A welcome party at night. I think japanese got strong legs cause you have to stand around for like 2 hours for the whole event to end. Almost all the ceremony i attend there are like that.
And there is a huge screen showing our result for the first match.
This is an interesting couple. They are actually VIP invited by the organizer cause they know each other through pair go and later on they got married and have a kid. The japanese call the kid "The pair go baby" haha.. the kid is really cute..
DAY 3
We have to play the remaining of our matches on this day. There is a total of 5 rounds. This is the new venue for the remaining matches. All these venue are in the hotel so is very convenient for the players.
石田芳夫 九段 saying the opening speech.
Our beautiful bento lunch box again..
I think this is red bean rice or something. Not bad.
At one corner of the hall are the prizes for the lucky draw. Yar, i think they adpot the same system as swa of lucky draw so that people will stay for the prize giving. Look at the prizes!!! Wii!!! DS!!! even bicycle!!! omg....is damm good prize. I was telling minyi if we so heng got the bicycle how are we going to bring back to sg? haha...
Closing Ceremony. There were alot alot alot of people in the closing ceremony. Looks like the lucky draw prize is very attractive, haha...
DAY 4
Early in the morning after breakfast, minyi, me and suzan went to a japanese shrine near the hotel.
Is my first time entering japanese shrine and the feeling is completely different from temple (of course)
A small both for public to buy lucky charm. I did buy some for my family.
I think these 2 place are for japanese to hang their wishes.
Exit of the shrine.
Decided to take a few pic of japan street on the way back to hotel. Oh yar... one huge problem we face is that is so difficult to find rubbish bin on the street and yet the street is super clean.
Before lunch we have a talk by pandanet aka IGS. Seems that IGS is one of a sponsor for this competition and this talk is to encourage us to spread IGS to our friends.
Lunch time. The farewell lunch was really amazing. Look at the seating arrangement, is so formal. Beside lunch, each country also have to share how pair go is progressing in each country and their comment on IGS.
Lunch!!! The translator told us this is very very high class meal.
This is one of the best japanese meal i have eaten in the past few days. The food is still cold but it seems that i have somehow gotten use to it. The rock melon they serve is super duper sweet. Minyi and i agree that the rock melon is the best one we have eaten in our life. haha
We took a pic with the champion team, KOREA!!
Lastly a group photo....
After the farewell lunch, minyi and i rush like mad to do our last min shopping. We are actually quite anti-social cause we din really hang out with other teams to shop. Reason being is that if we wanna go with other team, it will drag and take quite long to decide where to go, haha..
We went to this place call qian chao which is like what minyi said "tourist trap".. haha... bought lots of food there...
Saw this beautiful wolf, i mean dog when we were shopping. Is super big lar..
got a few pack of cigrattes for my army frends. Their packaging is so nice, somemore got free lighter!! haha...wat a temptation to start smoking.
At night we went to visit Tokyo Tower. The tower is really beautiful.. Took this pic outside the train station.
A closer pic under the tower. We din went up the tower cause is ex i guess..
Entrance to the tower.
I have a hard time packing my bag at night. I realize i bought too much food. As you know some of the food packaging is quite big, my army duffel bag cant even zip up. i have to keep rearranging the position and worry that the zip might burst.
Pic of Narita airport...
Plane food. Quite nice... Spend most of the time watching movie and sleeping.
